UGM provides Australia Week in China 2014 cultural briefing

Dr Margaret Byrne of UGM Consulting will provide Austrade's cultural briefing (a short cultural training session) for the 600 Australian organisations participating in the forthcoming Australia Week in China 2014 trade mission, to be lead by the Australian Prime Minister.

As part of cultural awareness raising, and more importantly, the development of cultural competence, Dr Byrne will focus on essential aspects of cultural difference that might be useful in business contexts. The briefing will also provide valuable advice on how to best use English as a business language and how to ensure that the use of translators and translation improves the quality of dialogue and reduces cultural risk, rather than adding additional cultural risk.

Delegates of the Australia Week in China 2014 trade mission will also have exclusive access to a support-pack of cultural competence materials provided by UGM, which they can access during their visit to China.

Delegates interested in obtaining a copy of Dr Byrne's recent book, "Business Success in the Asian Century", can order through our stockist, Abbey's Bookshops (click here for the link).

If you would like to discuss additional cultural support options for the Australia Week in China trade mission (or cultural training and cultural support for business in Asia more generally), call us on (+61 2) 9964 9861 for a confidential discussion.

UGM adopts an evidence-based, cultural intelligence approach to the related issues of cultural diversity, cultural awareness and international business. We provide cultural training and cultural consulting relating to the cultural competence needed to implement strategic plans.
